Family photos

My brother took beautiful family photos for us and I am slowly putting a scrapbook album together of them for on the coffee table. The challenge over at Scrap the Girls gave me inspiration to do a page in my book of my eldest daughter. The LO had to be monochromatic.
I went with pinks to match Justine's shirt.

I first glimmer misted the background with a chicken wire look, then added several papers behind the photos. The lamp stamp is from Kaiser craft. I love their new stamps. I have kept it fairly simple as it is in a book and it can't be to thick, plus by keeping it simple, I'll hopefully be able to scrap the photos quicker.
I like how flowers and buttons and tags can lift a page without it being too cluttered.

Baptism

I'm into my scrapbooking this year and enjoying it through-out the holidays. I came across this new challenge blog; Sketches with a Twist, and since I enjoy sketches, I joined in.
The reason I love scrapbooking is because if photos aren't perfect, you can crop or cover bad parts. I have been reluctant to scrapbook these photos because they didn't turn out very well, and for a very special day, I was really disappointed. My son being Autistic is not good at photos and he was not going to co-operate for these ones.
This sketch made me get them out and scrap them remembering they are still memories for my daughter one day.

The twist was to use 2 different fonts in the title. I do like the look of the first letter being different and went with that for this LO. I have sewn in different places around the LO and did some doodling as well. I distressed and ripped my background paper.

I sponge inked my tag, added a wire love heart, rubons, stamped bird and a homemade crochet flower. I enjoy making little clusters.

The lighting doesn't do the LO justice but I grab what daylight I can, since most of it is spent at the beach these past weeks.

I have this week left of swimming lessons and then 1 more week of school holidays, where I promised my daughter some sewing time with me, but hopefully I can squeeze some more scrapping in.

Together

I am enjoying the holiday season with lots of beach life, the kids are doing swimming lessons, which we all enjoy. I love coming home though, showering them all, dinner and early bed because they're bombed and I can spend some quiet time at my craft desk. It's peaceful after a great but busy day.
I did a LO for the challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch who have inspired me to scrap something I take for granted, New Years Eve.
We have spent the last 2 years on our own with the kids and so we went to bed. At first it seemed a rather boring thing to do, but I loved waking up in the morning facing a new year next to my husband and the kids clambering in to say Happy New Year, plus we really enjoyed New Years Day, well rested; a bonus with young kids :).

 I love this photo of the two of us together. I have used a plain grey background and kept the embellishments around the photo to highlight it. I used twine to bring the 2 clusters of embellishments together along with some paper roses.

 A cluster of all sorts. A rubon,doily, a cutout from Kaisercraft backed onto book pages and a great flower I received as a prize once, topped with some paper flowers.

 A close up of my other embellishments. I have stitched a love heart with the sew easy tool( a tool I really like) behind my title.  I doodled around the letters to make them stand out more.

Last but not least my journalling, a requirement along with the sketch. I used a Kaiser craft background stamp onto chipboard and wanting to keep it personal went along with my own handwriting.
