December

I am back after busily shifting house, and cleaning the old house. We are settling in, and I have my craft space delegated (was before we bought the house☺) but I am waiting for my wonderful hubby to put in my craft desks so that I can unpack those boxes. 

Today I have time to share with you my December DT work for ARTastic Challenge Blog. I slipped this one in before packing my craft up.

ARTastic has gone with something a bit different for December, using a wordle as inspiration so you can scrap anything based on one or more of these words,

So much choice and to scrap what this festive time of the year means to you. For us Christmas is about God's gift to us in His Son Jesus and we celebrate this gift together as a family. With December including summer holidays, it is very much a family centred month.

 And so I scrapped our family photo and made my own wordle for what we look forward to this month.

A close up of my little banner and mason jar which was a sticker I backed onto some card first.

 And my wordle using different rub ons, stickers and stamps. It was good fun and a great way to use left over stock.

Girls

Hello- I hope you are well. It's been quiet on my blog and will be for a few more couple of weeks. This Saturday, we have a fundraiser and my friend and I have a homemade stall, so I have been busy creating for that and then we are shifting house! I will need to pack up my craft room so scrapbooking will be out for a few weeks.
Today though I have the new challenge at ARTastic, which is a great painting and you're free to choose how to use it for your inspiration.

I used the background of print and butterflies as my inspiration and I couldn't go past some twine after seeing the hair ☺.

 The background page had some print but I added lots more by stamping and also layering papers around my page. It's a great way to use up scraps ☺

I wrote my journalling to blend in a bit with the page. And my little love heart twine ☺.

It's amazing how the CT have all been inspired differently which you can see at the ARTastic site.

I will be back at the beginning of December with the next challenge for ARTastic and hopefully by then we will be settled in our new house. Till then I look forward to visiting your pages when I need time out from packing!

ARTastic CT call

ARTastic is having a CT call. I have enjoyed this team so much and if you would like to join us here are the details:

ARTastic is looking for monthly Guest Designers for 2014 and a yet to be determined number of Creative Team members.   Could this be you?

I don’t care if you have been scrapping for 8 months or 8 years or where you live in this big wide world of ours.  I don’t care what your style is or how much design team experience you may or may not have and I don’t even care if you use paper or your computer to create your work. Everyone is welcome to apply!

What I do care about is your passion for the craft and your commitment to being part of the ARTastic team - be it for a one month guest slot or for many months as a team member.

I would ask you to create one layout/project per month using the inspiration and criteria provided.

I would ask for your commitment to post your work with a link to ARTastic on your blog/FB once your work has been revealed on the blog and promote us when and where you can.

I would ask for your commitment to comment on all entries as they are submitted for each challenge.

At the end of the month I will ask you to submit your votes for the winning entries.

You will need to have an active blog and it would be preferred if you are on FB so you can access our private group where we interact with each other.

Initial term for new Creative Team members will be 1^st January to 30^thJune 2014 and will in all likelihood be extended.  Guest Designer positions will be allocated on a monthly basis throughout 2014.

Card by Justine

Hello,

My girls are enjoying the school holidays and have been busy sewing and card making. My eldest girl, Justine(13) made this card for her cousins wedding which is in a weeks time.

Justine has embossed the background page and for the love heart has written the word in glue covered with fairy glitter. She has also inked the edges to blend it in with her card.

Justine has made the card for the challenge at The Pink Elephant using anniversary or wedding theme.

I'm always so happy seeing my girls busy crafting, it brings much joy.

Bush Masterchef

We start another month! And with it a new challenge at ARTastic for you to try.
This month the inspiration piece is by Mia Taninaka.

The criteria to go along with this piece is feather and/or wood.

And here is my interpretation:

A cute page showing my son's(on the left) and his friend's bush food. I have used some of the colours from the inspiration and have used twigs to frame the photo.  

 I love journalling on the computer and putting a border around it.

A close up of my twig border, I was surprised how nice it came up.

We would love to see your pages this month at ARTastic, it is always fun to see what people come up.

We have school holidays here in the west which is always nice. We plan little day trips for our holidays and some crafting time at home. Hope you enjoy your holidays if you have them too.

Trampoline fun

Hello, it's been a quiet month on the scrapbooking front for me. I have been busy sewing a quilt for my daughter and having fun with making cushions with a little bit of crocheting on the side. But this week was an easy week on the home front so I managed to fit in a page too☺.
I did this for the challenge of using washi tape and twine at Scrap Africa; a new challenge for me.

 These photos are of Ella's first jumps on her new trampoline. They look a bit grainy but it's the netting of the trampoline which she really does need otherwise she would be the one to fall off. I have used washi tapes to create strips for a background to my photos.

 I added twine behind my cluster of prima flowers and along the top of the background papers. This cute little chipboard banner is from October afternoon.

I did my journalling on the computer and backed it with some texture paint which I then stamped over top using a Kaiser craft background stamp.

It was good to do a page and try a new challenge. We are heading towards school holidays in a week so the dynamics will change again here at home. Hopefully I can squeeze another page in before the end of the month.

Sweet together

I have created another page using photos of my husband with our youngest. I don't think I have many photos of her and I, just because she is always with her Dad ☺.
This page is for the 123 challenge this month. The challenge is:
COLOUR: PINK
WORD: SWEET
TECHNIQUE: FLORALS

 Well I definitely used pink ☺, I used all scraps from my ever growing pile of scraps. I have done texture paint with a birdhouse mask and made more texture with the pink doilies.

My words using Sweet and some of my flowers.

It would be nice if you could join in this challenge as they are thinking of stopping if they don't get more entries. I always find this challenge fun and will miss it if it stops.

Picking flowers

Good morning,
It's spring here in Australia, my favourite season. I thought I'll start spring off with a fun and bright page of my two girls picking flowers. It is my DT page for ARTastic which has a cute painting for inspiration this month by Michael Cartwright.

The criteria to go with this painting is whimsical and fun.

And here is my page:

 I received a great pack of papers at a scrapbook retreat and had fun using them for this page. It makes it easy when the background page is so bright and cheerful.

I have added little rhinestones to the flowers and around my page. The love, strike a pose and laugh words are rubons  that came with the papers. I fussy cut around circles from the papers and used buttons to finish them off.

I had a completely different idea for these photos but these papers lent to the page and I love the finished look.

Only Dad

Hello,

My youngest is a true Daddy's girl and when her Dad is around no-one else is allowed to help her, she will state very firmly, "Only Dad."
I have done a page of the 2 of them for the challenge at Scrap the Girls which is a recipe challenge.

 One of the 'ingredients' was masking. I have used a doily mask with texture paint.

 Doodling had to be included on the page, I have done it in the corners and down one side of my photo.

Flowers and chipboard or wood had to be used. I love flowers on my pages so that was easy☺ and I have used a chipboard spray, which I have left raw.

I have some busy weeks coming up with doing some relief teacher aide work which I look forward to but hopefully I'll still get some time and energy to scrapbook☺.

Down at the park

The challenge this month at Scrap the Boys is Monochramatic, Twine and Chipboard. I wasn't going to do blue but the photos lent themselves to that, so I went with it ☺.

I have used mainly plain paper but have added in some stamping, a tag and closed eyelets.

The arrows are chipboard which I have covered with some paper. This definition badge is from an etsy shop-The Greatest View. So many cute embellies.

We have had some rain every day for ages now which although doesn't help get the washing dry, is a good reason to stay inside an craft. I love sitting at my craft desk, listening to my daughter play and the rain dancing on the roof. Beautiful and cosy. I hope you are enjoying whatever season you are having☺.

Beach girls

Today has been very wintery and with my youngest and I not feeling well, we had a cosy day at home, spending time together. She loves to cut and glue and so after reading, beading and drawing we 'scrapbooked' together. Sketches with a Twist and Show us Your Stuff are combining their challenges this month. With a great sketch and the twist of using a safety pin, plus using a handmade item, I completed this page:

I machined stitched the border using a decorative stitch and misted the background. For my handmade item I used a crochet trim that I made. I have had it for a little while, waiting for the right page. The crochet pattern is actually a shell pattern which suits it also☺. I have used 2 safety pins to secure the end of my crochet trim to the page and tied twine to them for some decoration.

 This large flower is actually a paper clip. I found a pkt of them at the local discount store. 

Also from the store I found a pkt of these cute shells. I love using muslin on beach pages, to me it has a soft summer feel.

My banners using Bo Bunny-Barefoot and Bliss papers. Great beach papers. I have machined stitched borders onto the banners making them a bit more defined since they are all pattern papers.

I enjoyed using these 2 challenges together and the page came together nicely.

Little Red Riding Hood part 2

Good morning, well for us in the west of Australia. I have been busy scrapbooking; things I can't show you yet, but I have this page to share. The second page of my Little Red Riding Hood. I have done this page for the The Scrapbook Store Sketch. 

 Firstly I turned the sketch upside down. I have used the same papers as the first page, Simple Stories-Summer Fresh. For the background I cut the chevron paper into strips and angled them around my page. My photos are bigger than the sketch but I really wanted to fit these photos in together.

The basket is from the sticker sheet from this range as well as the flowers. I couldn't resist making another flower using elastic ribbon ☺.

I have just enjoyed a weekend with my parents celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary and so I have a bit of catching up to do and then hopefully I will be back with another page.

Little Red Riding Hood

I have started the month on a good scrapping note, lets hope it stays that way. We are having beautiful winter weather, lots of rain, making it very cosy to scrapbook.

I decided to join in a new challenge for me at Scrap Friends. I love the sketch and it all came together nicely.

 This page is of Amy who had to dress up for book week. I have fussy cut the chevron pattern out of the papers from Simple Stories-Summer Fresh. They suited the photo well.

 This little red riding hood was in a pack of embellishments I bought. Perfect☺. I have made a flower out of elastic ribbon by twirling it and fastening it with a brad.

I have more photos of Amy's book day so there might be part 2 soon.

Gumboots and Puddles

Hello all. I have sort of disappeared for a while because I didn't get any scrapping in last month. It was for a good reason, I could enjoy 10 days with my husband in Sydney while the kids went to their Pop and Nan's and with lots of visits to their many, many cousins. It was a real treat and so I took my time to get organised to go and also to settle back in as Mum and house keeper ☺.

But with a new month I hope to make a new start again, to kick it off is my DT page for the challenge at ARTastic this month which is to be inspired by this beautiful painting:

 and to use water colour.

I couldn't resist using a photo of my own 2 girls playing in the puddle:

 My girls love their winter walks around the vineyard especially when there is a large puddle along the way. I have water coloured the background with the kids water paints. For my papers I have used Simple Stories-Vintage Bliss. I love this range so much. The flowers are from Prima and I have done some stitching of buttons and love hearts.

 The lettering comes from the alphabet sticker page from this same range.

Good morning,
The new challenge for ARTastic is up and I now have my pages revealed in the first group at the beginning of the month. The inspiration this month is this beautiful painting:

The criteria this month is to use black and white and predominately one other colour.

I chose to do a photo of my little ballerina, my Ella loves to dance and self teachers herself different moves.

 I chose to do Ruby as my predominate colour following the inspiration from the painting.

I had to add flowers for my little girl and these I just got in the mail, cute paper flowers from Prima.

Along with a real doily I masked a doily with texture paint which I then stamped over with a Kaiser craft stamp.

It was a fun challenge and I hope you would like to join us too this month.

Together

How are you all, we are enjoying lots of winter sun in the west and it nicely streams onto my craft desk. Bliss.
I have scrapped some cute photos a friend took of my youngest with her cousin who were busy getting up to mischief while camping. I have done this layout for Sketches with a Twist which was to follow the sketch

and use transparency.

I rotated the sketch once clockwise to suit my photos. I used photos for some of the circle elements and transparency paper for the others. A few buttons to add to the fun of the page.

The transparency I either stapled on or machine stitched with a zig zag stitch.

I hope the sun is brightening your day and everything is well.

Our 4

I love this photo of my 4 kids together. It was taken while out for a winter picnic while travelling. Family photos are very special.

I scrapped this photo using the sketch at Sketch in Thyme.

I have machine sewn my circle element and used tags and diecuts for my other sketch elements. 

 A cute embossed heart lock which I placed on a doily.

These split pins are from an October range and come together with lots more in a pack. Perfect for my layout.
