My parents

Hello and welcome to February. It's always a bit of fun at the beginning of the month to see the new challenges come out. This month, ARTastic is asking for work with paint and ink using the below painting for inspiration.

I did a scrapbook page using a photo of my parents. I realized my kid's albums were missing a photo of their grandparents and I felt it's important to include this. I used the colours of the inspiration painting for my page.

 I 'stamped' using texture paint and then using the same stamp used black ink next to and over top of the texture paint hearts. To back and embellish my page I have used a range of papers and added a straight edge of a doily with some fabric flowers.

Key to his heart

Hello,

We are on the last week of our big summer holidays, we have had lots of fun in the sun and time of total relaxing. It's been really nice. 

Amongst it all, I did this page for a challenge that is new for me, at Lessology. The theme was-You hold a key to my heart, and the idea was to use a key in your creation. Well, my youngest definitely has the key to her Dad's heart and so I scrapped this cute photo them together.

 My required up-cycle item was the backing behind the photo. It's the packaging that came with flowers I bought. I made a fabric button and used a range of papers to make this page. The stamp down the bottom is from Stampin Up.

My key that I found in my son's bedroom☺. I have also up-cycled a doily by cutting it and using it for the edging behind my photo. I finished the page off by stitching love hearts near my title.

I'm off to enjoy the noise of kids through the house and prepare for another school year. I'm sure I'll miss the kids when they are back to school and I'm sure the house will feel very quiet. Thankfully I have my youngest home for another year.

Summer Style

This year I hope to join in some new challenges and I found this one and fell in love with it instantly. It's a mood board challenge from Jot magazine.

I knew what papers I wanted to use and that would fit in well with this challenge; one of my favourites Simple Stories-Summer Fresh. I also used stickers from the sticker die cuts. I have also stamped some hot air ballons, as well as some background stamping and added some daisies.

 A denim pocket sticker and a paper flower I've added for dimension.

 I can't resist adding texture paint, this time using a bubble background stamp. The denim border and hessian tag are also from the sticker sheet.

With a few more weeks in January I hope to tackle another challenge while keeping the kids occupied during their holidays☺.

Vintage birthday

My daughter Justine has enjoyed crafting next to me these school holidays and made this card for her Grandad for the challenge at craft 4 eternity which was very vintage.

I love seeing my kids crafting and in these summer holidays there has been a lot of home time leading to lots of different craft sessions of all sorts. So thankful my children love time at home and keeping themselves busy. I just have to close my eyes to the mess created ☺.

Observe

Hello, as promised I have been scrapping again and it's been great.
I have joined with the challenge at Once upon a Sketch which has the theme-"lesson learnt".
My daughter was and still is a very observant child and because of this she was an early talker, always ready to help and knew everything that was going on.

My Take:

With the slight pattern in the background paper, I didn't need to add much myself and could keep it simple which I wanted to do as the photo has a peaceful feel to it.

I fussy cut the paper circles and doilies and added crochet doily flowers.

It was nice to get back to scrapbooking and very special to create in my new little space, even with the kids constantly needing me, thanks to school holidays☺.

100% Boy

Hello, hello, Happy New Year and wishing you a great and blessed 2014.
I have sort of disappeared the last 3 months but with shifting behind me, visitors been for the holiday season and a little family camping trip over, I hope to enjoy some craft time with my children during the summer break here. Not to say, my husband has set up my craft space even if it's temporarily organised for now☺. I have big plans for my little space but I will have to be patient and achieve it bit by bit. But for now I have my desk and I'm enjoying the morning sun that comes through the windows very much.

Well to kick of the new year ARTastic has a great inspiration with the criteria of triangles and/or diamonds.

I used a photo of my son, which is from a few years ago, but when you shift house, you find photos that haven't been scrapped☺! You will probably see more of these photos being scrapped along the way.

 For my background I painted with gesso, texture paint and spray mist using a chicken wire template to create the diamond background. I had to make my background sideways to suit my photo instead of bottom to top like the inspiration painting.

 I have used scrap paper to make a background for the photo itself. The bunting is made with the stampin up punch. I left it plain except for the few splatters of mist.

December

I am back after busily shifting house, and cleaning the old house. We are settling in, and I have my craft space delegated (was before we bought the house☺) but I am waiting for my wonderful hubby to put in my craft desks so that I can unpack those boxes. 

Today I have time to share with you my December DT work for ARTastic Challenge Blog. I slipped this one in before packing my craft up.

ARTastic has gone with something a bit different for December, using a wordle as inspiration so you can scrap anything based on one or more of these words,

So much choice and to scrap what this festive time of the year means to you. For us Christmas is about God's gift to us in His Son Jesus and we celebrate this gift together as a family. With December including summer holidays, it is very much a family centred month.

 And so I scrapped our family photo and made my own wordle for what we look forward to this month.

 And my wordle using different rub ons, stickers and stamps. It was good fun and a great way to use left over stock.
