Hand in Hand

I joined in a new challenge for me at Show Us Your Stuff. It was to make a textured background for your LO.

I used gesso, paint and glimmer mist with a love heart mask to create my background. It's hard to see the lumps and bumps but they are there and it suited the LO perfectly. The photo is of my 2 youngest on their way to exploring the beach during a winter outing.

I backed my photo onto pink card which I distressed and then placed it onto burlap, to add more layers. I also used a Martha Stewart punch for my border. I couldn't help but add some shells the girls found on their outing. Amy loves the 'butterfly shells' and looks for them each time we're at the beach.

There is nothing nicer in winter then to rug up and go down to the beach to get some fresh air. And after a storm there are always 'treasures' to find. I love these photos of my youngest simply happy to be out and free, enjoying the big world out there.
I did this LO for the 123 challenge with the criteria being;
WORD- enjoy
COLOUR-orange and
TECHNIQUE- using bakers twine.

I got the idea of the flower's from Ella's jacket and used bakers twine to create the flourish effect. The colours of the photos and the orange worked perfectly together and came together nicely. I have always wanted to try a photo with a paint smudge behind it after seeing it on several LOs and love the way it worked out.

A prima flower and some other paper flowers I had. I did computer journalling with a border around it and then inked the edges.

I don't use a lot of orange in my LOs but after this one I'm definitely going to use it more often. See you soon for another LO, yes I did say I had been busy.

Sports Day

Another LO as promised; this one for the challenge over at ARTastic. The criteria was outdoor sports which gave me the perfect opportunity to scrap some school sport day photos of my son.

I don't often use pattern paper for my backgrounds but this Kaiser craft paper suited the LO well as my son was a star in his own right on sports day. I have kept the rest of the LO simple so it wouldn't become too busy.

The tutorial for these grunge flowers(circles) were in one of the latest scrapbook magazine. I fell in love with them straight away and they are so easy. My son doesn't want flowers in his album so this was perfect. The banner is from a My minds eye embellishment pack.

A mother's prayer

I am back after a long break from blogging. It's not that I haven't been busy, I have been doing my sewing  instead knowing that I would be heading to a scrapbook retreat on the 24th of May, held by Handmade by Suzanne. I had a great couple of days along with a friend there and have lots to show you before the end of the month.
The first LO to post is one I made for Once Upon a Sketch which was with the journalling about Mum. I chose to do a LO of myself for my daughter's album with my prayer for our relationship; since she is 12 and growing up fast.

I have used one of the webster pages for the background strip. I love their papers. I distessed and inked the background papers and clustered flowers onto a paper doily along with a chipboard flourish. My bunting is made from a punch and twine.

My journalling(prayer). I don't use my own handwriting very much as it's very plain but I wanted to give it a personal touch and with the lines of the paper to guide me, it didn't go to bad.

Little friends

April is a very busy month for our family with 3 birthdays and a wedding anniversary, plus 2 weekends of trips away and school holidays. With all this, scrapbooking has taken a back stand. Before we went camping the last weekend, I finished a LO for Artastic. Instead of squeezing a LO in for their challenge this month, I've done it first!
The challenge is centered around a painting, with the extra theme being food.

These 2 little girls love being together and think morning tea and lunch are grown up things to do together. It's very cute to watch. I have used the colours from the painting as my base colours.

I found some vintage tags, this being one of them, from Free Pretty Things for You. A website full of beautiful little things. For the journalling I used a paint pen. It was my first time using one and I love the effect it gives.

I'm off to watch the Mary Poppins show tomorrow with my eldest daughter. We got tickets for her birthday and so I'm looking forward to a girls day out with her. I don't know how much I'll see my craft desk this month but hopefully a bit more.

My quiet project

As promised, here are the other 2 canvases that I have made for my very good friend. I had so much fun making them, but the best part was to give them and see her reaction and her kids reaction at seeing themselves as part of artwork.

I humbly love how they turned out and I thank my friend for letting me post her precious children so I could show you my work. I'm hooked on doing canvas now, just wish I had more wall space☺.

Beautiful girl

 Now for the scrapping I have had to keep quiet till now. For my very good friend's birthday, I've made a canvas of each of her 3 children. It was the first time I've done canvases and I'm hooked. 

I've always loved the Let's get Shabby challenge blog but it's been a long time since I've joined in. The colours from the inspiration photo and the fact that my friend had mentioned she loved spring when the kids could walk around bare feet again gave me the inspiration I needed for this canvas.

I first glimmer misted and stamped the background then using a range of papers and rub ons added the elements around the photos. Not to forget the pink doily strip that set the perfect background for the little photos.

I loved the greens and pinks from the photo and have used them as my main colours. I stamped the shipping tag with the beautiful butterfly background stamp from Kaiser craft. Butterflies are what I think of when I think of spring and I also love adding them to girl LOs.

My friend absolutely loved her gift(s) and I'm really pleased to give her a homemade gift she can treasure for a long time. I will post the other 2 a bit later today when I have a bit more time.
