Enjoying nature

We had a great family day one time(way behind in my photos) out in the bush after visiting a dam that was overflowing.  The kids had so much fun catching tadpoles. It was nice to see them enjoying God's creation and that is why I have used this song out of the list of my favourite songs - This is the day the LORD has made. The journalling from the August 15th challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch was to include at least 2 sentences of your favourite lyric along with the following sketch:

And this is the LO I completed.

I have used doilies to create my circle background and used a range of pattern papers from my rack. Added a number of paper flowers and some more fimo the kids made. I have also stamped a brown tree onto chipboard, I'm really enjoying the effect of this stamping. To make my title stand out I traced around it with black pen and the added some extra lines, doodling on the actual letters.

I enjoyed doing this sketch as I always do with the sketch at Once Upon A Sketch, and I also enjoy the journalling side of the challenge.

I'm heading off to the scrapbook retreat from Handmade my Suzanne this weekend (wah hoo), so I'll be busy getting everything ready at home for my wonderful husband and kids and packing and will leave scrapping till I get home again. Might have to post some of my LO from the weekend. So excited!
Till then, take care.

Cute Hippo

My daughter Justine(11) has been stamping again and made this card for the challenge over at The Lollipop Ladies.
The inspiration was this beautiful cupcake with the inclusion of dry embossing.
And for Justine's lovely card where she used the light pink and the cute flowers as her inspiration.

She actually had a day off school sick and we spent the afternoon crafting together. I ended up with all 3 girls drawing and glueing at the table. Love those times.

Little Monkey

As promised, here is another LO. This time one for Stuff2scrap. I am happy to announce I won the July challenge and received some beautiful chipboard to play with. My entry for the August challenge is of Ella and her climbing bug. My first climber and at 2 is still seeing what she can achieve!
The criteria for the challenge was:

  • SUGAR RUSH PINK
  • TROPICAL WATER BLUE
  • SPAGHETTI WESTERN RED
  • PANDA EYES BLACK
  • SOFT SERVE WHITE
Plus I'd like to see chippie on your creation! :)

And here is my LO

I have mainly used the pink, blue and white and then added red in buttons and black in my title.I have little embellishments around the page, some rubons, crochet flower, doily, and some paper flowers.

A chipboard tree with a chipboard owl. For the owl I sponged him with brown and outlined him with a black pen. As you can see, I have added buttons in the tree for some colour. I have added a doily behind the tree which I think looks really cute. The stamping is with a background stamp from Kaiser craft.

Love these journalling blocks.

The colours made for a bright and cheerful page which will fit in Ella's album quite nicely. Head over to Stuff2scrap to join in.

Beach Day

I had a great day crafting today with a friend and managed to get some LOs done.  I did the first page of a series of photos of Ella down at the beach for her first walk on the sand. I did this LO for the August 123 challenge. The criteria was:

WORD: What
COLOUR: Black
TECHNIQUE: Multi-photos
I have used black for a background for my photos and in my journalling.I have done a circle of twine around the Ella to highlight her in the photo. I have seen this somewhere and have been waiting for a suitable photo to do it with. I have also stamped the brown backing with a background grunge stamp from Kaiser craft to add the textured look of sand.

I have added some beach huts which I stamped on chipboard, and have also added some shell stickers, buttons and a pearl.

I have used a canvas tag and a journalling tag from Kaiser craft - Seaside Collection. Love this set.  I have added another homemade crochet flower and used foam letters for my title.

To see the second page to this LO click here. I know a bit back to front but that's how it worked out.
I should be back with another LO tomorrow. See you then.

Play

I have done another LO for the ARTastic challenge blog. I did a LO on my youngest daughter Ella's first play on the beach. We are often down at the beach but this time she could walk herself which she loved but she also took time out to play with the sand.
For August the inspiration painting and the challenge was:

Diva Demand for an extra 6 bonus pointstry and
work the following into your layout.

1. Ribbon =  1pt
2. A photo of a child or child playing = 2pts
3. Paint or create your own background = 3pts

It took a while to come together but I'm happy with the end result. I have created my own background by sponging the sky and used a pattern ruler to add the dark inked patterns. I roller stamped the sand with using yellow and brown ink then sponged with a cream ink over top. I have done a title out of foam letters and added rubons throughout the LO. And of course added a my own crochet flower.

My embellies. I stamped these beach huts onto chipboard using Chocolate chip ink. Really love how they came up.  I have added a fabric tag from Kaiser Craft and used ribbon with the tag and also gathered some more ribbon for a bit more texture.

This LO is a second LO to a series of photos and that is why the journalling reads on.  My kids played with fimo in the holidays and made lots of lovely shapes for me to use. I have to get over the 'not what I imagined side' but it does add a nice kids feel to my LOs.

There is still a while for the challenge so go to the ARTastic site to join in.

Growing up

I just love this photo of my eldest, Justine. I used it for a LO for the Get Picky July Inspiration Challenge #10. I love butterflies and so I had to join in with this challenge. I liked the colours and was going to use that as my inspiration but this LO took on it's own colours. I have used the whimsical feel that I think of when I see butterflies and also used butterflies in my LO.

I wanted to keep the photo the centre of the LO and so I created a frame using embellishments. I have stamped, used rub ons and layered to frame the photo. I have added pearls and rhinestones to add a bit of glammer to the LO.

I used a doily and added a homemade flower along with some paper flowers. The tag is from some clothing.
Another lot of embellies using a different homemade flower and doilies.
The stamping I've done and my wooden butterfly buttons to lead to the photos that lead up to the big photo. I've also added buttons to create the centre of the flower and another small flower.

I hope you enjoy this LO as much as I did scrapping it.

A Perfect Day

I am looving my new printer and love the photos it prints. I printed these photos and did this LO for the August 1st challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch
Sorry for some extra light on the photos, we have overcast days lately and it gets hard to take photos, and I struggle taking LO photos at the best of time.

I love how this LO came together. I have inked the edges of my journalling and the border of the colour photo to make them stand out.

My little(big) birdie I stamped and then paper pieced the wing and did a button for  it's eye. I have made paper flowers and used a tag I got from clothing. The pink and green doilies are from Creative Bits.  I am enjoying my crocheting at the moment and have used one of my flowers with a pink pearl centre.

The journalling requirement was to use the words A perfect day is.... This is what I have written using the criteria.

A chipboard butterfly and the strips of paper are from Echo Park-A walk in the Park. Don't you love Ella's expression of ponder.

Here is the sketch to follow, head over and join in the fun.

It's ages since I've posted but we have had visitors over on the weekends and a busy first week  catching up with everything now the kids are back to school. Hopefully in the next week I will be able to post some more.
