Best Buds

Hello there,

Today I have a page to share with you using the challenge at Scrap Africa which was to use this sketch,

My page using a photo of my youngest and her friend. Our 2 families spend a lot of time together  and these two have grown up best friends,

I have kept this page clean and simple using simple background stamping and clean lines. The journal cards are part of a Becky Higgins project life kit. I don't actually do project life but the kits are suitable for scrapbooking too. The cute circles are from Heidi Swapp.

Hello and welcome to September and another exciting lot of scrapbook challenges.
 I have my DT page for you today for the challenge at ARTastic challenge blog,  with this painting by William Knox as your inspirtation,

CRITERIA is a free scrap (anything goes) but we need to know what inspired you (sails, sand, buildings, colours, shapes, location etc).

My page for this challenge is a photo of my youngest with her much loved Daddy,

 The thing that struck me first when I saw this painting was the colours. They weren’t bright but rather olden looking and I loved the feel it gave, a peaceful, loving feeling. So I picked up those colours for my inspiration and came up with this page of my husband with our youngest. The love and peace between these 2 is beautiful. I’ve used the quote to double up as my title.

 I have created a bit of colour to my background using water colour paints. It gives a subtle look and lets the photo and other embellishments shine.

I created a matching tag to my background. I have been busy lately making my own embellishments, tags and flowers and any other ideas I find on Pinterest.

Spring has arrived here in the West of Australia and the sunshine is something to enjoy along with some spring showers. My favourite season, and especially when the sun shines into my craft room.

Hello Monday,
A great way to start the week is with some scrapbooking.
I have completed a page for the challenge at the 123 Challenge Blog. The challenge was to use kraft, the word precious and fussy cutting.

 I used kraft for my background and backed my photo with different patterned papers. The black card I used was the backing from some flowers I bought. I love it when products come with cute packaging. I have used different buttons, flowers and butterflies for my embellishments.

As promised I'm back with another page to share.
This page is for the Jot magazine challenge using this beautiful mood board

I have created this page using another photo taken by my niece,

 I created the background by sponge inking, using a doily stencil. After the ink dried, I covered the background with gesso to give it the white wash effect to fit in with the mood board. I love how it came up and it made the rest of the page come together easily. The lattice die cut behind my photo is a new one I bought from Kaiser craft. I have a feeling it will be well used.

My Girls

I gave my craft room and desk a good clean and couldn't wait to scrapbook in my clean, organised area. I love mood boards and the one for the challenge at Scrap The Girls, is just gorgeous.

My niece took family photos for us and they are beautiful, so I'm sure you'll see plenty more as I scrap them. This one is of my 3 girls and I.

 I love pages where I can also use some scraps. This is because I have a lot of scraps since I have a hard time throwing papers out.  Paper doilies and background stamping fill in the white areas. For the mason jar, I used a free printable and printed it onto a coloured paper, then cut it out, added some twine and a flower.

Firstly my apologies for disappearing off the blogging and scrapbooking world last month. I had school holidays, a trip to Adelaide with my husband and sickness to fill my month.
I am back with my DT page for ARTastic which has a wonderful challenge focusing on creating a background using this painting as your inspiration

My page of my youngest taking her 'baby' for a walk. 

I have used a floral stencil which I have first stencilled with gesso and when that was dry, I then used mist, spraying and splattering it. From there I have layered papers to back my photo and then used little embellishments around the page.

Together is the Best

Hello and welcome to July; we are into the second half of the year, yikes.
What a better way to start the month with the challenge at ARTastic. A fun challenge using this painting by Shirley Charlton, as your inspiration,

CRITERIA is to use water (liquid) in some way on your page (ink spray, gelatos, paper crumple, watered down paint, make handmade flowers etc).  Just tell us how water was applied.

My page for this month:

 I was inspired by the colours and 'layout' of the painting. I have split my page using similar colours at the top and bottom as the painting with my photo and embellishments across the centre. To create my background I painted clear acetate with water colour paint and placed it upside down on my page transferring the paint. My friend recently taught me this technique and I love it.

 Close up of my background and my flower cluster. By pre painting it, it's easier to get the right colours before placing it on your page.

The other colour I have used at the top, along with some of my embellishments. I love making my own embellishments. The love hearts are a die cut and the arrows I made using a chevron stencil.
