Walking

I can't believe I'm able to squeeze in another LO before the end of the month.  This LO is for the challenge over at 123 September.
The criteria was white space, word 'on', and the colour white.

I did a LO on my youngest daughter's first steps.

 I have splattered ink and used a mask for the background.  I have used a variety of papers for my banner and for behind the photo.



The title is made from little stone letters that I found at my local discount store. I love how they add to the page.  I have printed the little tag calendar off the internet. This one was on a preserving food blog site. There are a lot of free labels out there which are beautiful. I made my own fabric button and added it to some cute pictures from October Afternoon. I have also added some metal flowers someone gave me for my birthday, they are nice and flat but with lots of texture.



It took a while for it to come together but I'm happy with the end page.
It's the sports carnival for the kids tomorrow, so I'll be busy with that and also have visitors on the weekend. Busy busy here.
The kids also have 2 weeks holidays after this week so I think my scrapbooking will take a backseat for a while but I might be able to squeeze in a card or LO in the first week as I like to sit down with Justine in the holidays.

Lollipop Ladies challenge #30

Back again, with the exciting news that I made the Lollipop Ladies DT call with their last challenge. I'm so excited to be doing my first DT work and hope that you will enjoy my inspirations for the challenges. The first one is red frogs, they have been around for so long which is no surprise considering how good they are.

The extra criteria for this challenge is movement.

 I have used the red as my main inspiration, and since then I have made a number of projects with red. Funny how things can grow on you when crafting.

I have done movement by stitching the butterfly trails to show their flight and also have made the butterflies 3D. With one butterfly I have added rhinestones for the middle. I love bling on cards. I have used paper from October Afternoon and my butterfly stamp is from Kaiser craft.  I have used a free sentiment stamp I received with a magazine and inked the edges and placed it on a label.
The flower layers are made up of a paper flower, doily and button, placed along a pleated ribbon.

Closer up of my butterflies and how their wings look. It gave the card a really nice effect.

Helper

As promised another LO. This one I did for the ARTastic September challenge. The inspiration painting and the criteria was:

1. Blue Background = 1 pt
2. White flowers = 2 pts
3. Brown or White title = 3 pts
I scrapped a photo of my daughter, Amy, helping me with the dishes. She loves to help me around the house, in this photo she is 2 and now at 4 she is still asking me each day if there is a job she can do. I'll take it while it lasts.

I found some handmade paper in my stash which I used for the background.I love how it's texture leaves for a simple page. I punched red card with Martha Stewart punch-beaded arcs and place it at the bottom of my photo along with some red ribbon and rafia. I gesso painted the title to make it white and also add texture.

I used paper flowers and my homemade crochet flower for my criteria of white flowers. I have also added a chipboard flower.  I journalled on some note paper, inked the edges, placed it on a shipping tag and placed it with my flowers.

I enjoyed doing this LO and hope you enjoy it too.

Hats

I attended the srapbook retreat held by Handmade by Suzanne in August, Wow, feels like ages ago. I did this LO there for the September Sketch.

My little girl,Ella, loves to dress up and hats are her favourites.  I have used Echo Park papers for the background and the banner. I have added a homemade crochet flower and a cluster of embelishments with a doily as the base.

I outlined the title with black pen to highlight it.

I sewed around the whole LO and also did some machine stitching in the corner.

I love how the bright colours brought out the fun of the photos. Such a cutie, even though I might be biased☺.

I'm busy trying to get some more LOs done before the end of the month and will be back tonight to post one I've nearly completed.

Tomorrow I'll also have some exciting news and a card to show.

Gobstoppers

I have done a card for challenge #29 over at The Lollipop Ladies. For this challenge the inspiration came from these bright and yummy gobstoppers.


I have made a bright and cheery card for a little girl using the Kaiser craft giraffe stamp. I have paper pieced the giraffe and backed the image onto pink card to which I distressed the edges.  I have used the dotty paper from Echo Park-summer days, which matched the colours beautifully.

The yellow card I embossed and I added a doily, kaiser craft brad and a tag with rub on word, love, to add some dimension to the whole card.

I love how it turned out.

This challenge is also a DT call so if anyone is interested there are a few days left, so head over and join in the fun. I have my fingers crossed for my first DT submission ever!!

At the Park

Finally a LO from me again, but I must say, it was a real pleasure doing this one. It was the first LO from my new craft area, I was happy how quickly it came together now that I have most things organized and stored neatly. I did this LO for the challenge over at Scrap the Girls; the criteria being to use clips.

I have used Kaiser craft paper and then splattered ink in the top corner with a butterfly mask. I have added little flower buttons to some of the paper flowers and created a cluster using a doily, shipping tag, stickers, buttons and a trendy flower paper clip.  I also added paper clips to the top photo.
The background papers I distressed, inked or 'scrunched' to give some texture and depth.

 

Hopefully now I'm organized and all set up I'll be posting again soon.

Cupcake Inspirations

Hello, it's been a while since I've posted. I have been busy shifting and organizing all my craft to a new spot in the house. I went to the retreat from Handmade by Suzanne and while I was there, my husband had organized for a big craft bench to be put upstairs as a surprise. We are renting so it had to be something I could take with me, so he did a bench with bought drawers and next to a few built in cupboards. Simple but I am so happy with it, it's the first time I have my own space for scrapbooking and sewing, 2 of my loves. I will take photos of it and post them soon.

 Anyway back to my real reason for my post, it's not even for me, but for Justine(11).
She made a card this afternoon for challenge #126 over at Cupcake Inspirations.

She has used the toadstools stamp from the Stampin Up set - Funky four, and paper pieced the top of the toadstools. Her first time paper piecing and I also showed Justine how to distress her paper which we did with the white. Justine added a doily and some paper flowers.
